Synopsis: A contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic, Child's Play follows Karen Aubrey Plaza , a single mother who gifts her Directed By: Lars Klevberg.

Critics Consensus: It: Chapter Two proves bigger doesn't always mean scarier for horror sequels, but a fine cast and faithful approach to the source material keep this follow-up afloat.

Synopsis: Evil resurfaces in Derry as director Andy Muschietti reunites the Losers Club in a return to where it all began Directed By: Andy Muschietti.

Critics Consensus: Fun for fans even if it isn't as frightening as some of its predecessors, Annabelle Comes Home suggests there's still some life left in the Conjuring franchise.

Synopsis: Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked Directed By: Gary Dauberman.

Critics Consensus: Zombieland: Double Tap makes up for a lack of fresh brains with an enjoyable reunion that recaptures the spirit of the original and adds a few fun twists.

Directed By: Ruben Fleischer. Critics Consensus: A funnier follow-up with a sci-fi bent, Happy Death Day 2U isn't as fiendishly fresh as its predecessor, but fans of the original may still find this a sequel worth celebrating.

Critics Consensus: Haunt is spooked by the spirits of its obvious influences, but still packs enough thrills and chills to satisfy horror fans up for a haunted house excursion.

Synopsis: A group of friends look for the thrill of a lifetime when they enter a haunted house that supposedly brings Critics Consensus: Gwen's relentlessly grim outlook may wear on some viewers, but it remains a reasonably gripping, solidly assembled descent into atmospheric period horror.

Critics Consensus: Doctor Sleep forsakes the elemental terror of its predecessor for a more contemplative sequel that balances poignant themes against spine-tingling chills.

Directed By: Mike Flanagan. Critics Consensus: Admirably eclectic yet more consistent than most horror anthologies, Nightmare Cinema should entertain viewers in the mood for a good old-fashioned creepshow.

Synopsis: In this twisted horror anthology, five strangers are drawn to an abandoned theater and forced to watch their deepest and Critics Consensus: Like the bestselling series of books that inspired it, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark opens a creepy gateway into horror for younger genre enthusiasts.

Synopsis: It's l in America. Change is blowing in the wind Critics Consensus: Girl on the Third Floor proves a good old-fashioned haunted house story can still be entertaining -- and put a fresh spin on established genre formula.

On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an "extreme" haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears.

The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real. Votes: 19, Another 'haunt' film - as in a film set in a Halloween haunt house.

A little formulaic but very well done. Great Halloween viewing. Not Rated 83 min Comedy, Thriller. Rivalries, dark secrets, and sexual tension emerge when three best friends find themselves stranded on a yacht in the middle of the ocean desperate for survival.

Votes: 3, R 90 min Horror, Sci-Fi. A mother gives her year-old son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

Lots of laughs, gore and Mark Hamill does a great job voicing Chucky. The rest of the cast are all very good, also. Bit of a shame the detective side-plot doesn't really go anywhere, as I think it would have fleshed out the film a lot more - to see them trying to uncover who or what the killer is, maybe give a bit more backstory to the toy company as well, as they investigate the feasibility of a malfunctioning doll.

Only a minor gripe tho! R 94 min Comedy, Fantasy, Horror. Rose, a mostly sweet and lonely Irish driving instructor, must use her supernatural talents to save the daughter of Martin also mostly sweet and lonely from a washed-up rock star who is using her in a Satanic pact to reignite his fame.

A charming, very silly Irish comedy with a supernatural horror theme and retro, Argento-esque aesthetic. R 97 min Crime, Horror, Thriller.

Evan values family above all else, and anyone who gets between him, his wife, and newborn son learns that the hard way. But when it comes to violent tendencies, it seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Sean William Scott actually makes a very good serial killer! It's quite slow, but if you don't mind films with a sedate pace then this is definitely worth a watch.

When troubled musical prodigy Charlotte seeks out Elizabeth, the new star pupil of her former school, the encounter sends both musicians down a sinister path with shocking consequences.

Votes: 34, All very good until the final 20 minutes or so, it becomes far too silly and loses impact. PG 99 min Action, Adventure, Horror.

Six strangers find themselves in a maze of deadly mystery rooms and must use their wits to survive.

Cool mystery-thriller-horror film. It's one of those "a group of strangers locked in a room" kinda films, but does enough to stand out from all the others.

It's PG so is a little light on the nasty stuff. Reminded me a bit of Cube mixed with the Saw films, but very toned-down on the gore.

R 87 min Horror, Thriller. A young woman, while attempting to save her father during a category 5 hurricane, finds herself trapped in a flooding house and must fight for her life against alligators.

R min Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi. A bold girl discovers a bizarre, threatening, and mysterious new world beyond her front door after she escapes her father's protective and paranoid control.

Directors: Zach Lipovsky , Adam B. Worth a look. Plays out a bit like an R-rated X-Men, but with a far smaller budget. A single mother living in the Irish countryside with her son begins to suspect he may not be her son at all, and fears his increasingly disturbing behavior is linked to a mysterious sinkhole in the forest behind their house.

I also found many scenes giving me a strong sense of deja vu, originality is definitely thin on the ground here. Worth a look if you're a fan of this style of horror film, and it's beautifully shot with some solid performances, but just don't expect too much.

Twenty-seven years after their first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise, the Losers Club have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back.

Underwhelming second part of the IT story. Very little suspense, an over-reliance on jump scares, loads of bad CGI, uneven comedic tone and a lack of characterisation.

Basically, every little flaw that the first chapter had has been amplified ten fold. Bit of a shame, really.

There's still just enough here to warrant viewing, but it's a very cautious recommendation. After hearing a young boy's cry for help, a sister and brother venture into a vast field of tall grass in Kansas but soon discover there may be no way out Votes: 44, Hit and miss adaption of the Joe Hill and Stephen King story.

Some really creepy bits, an interesting premise and an intriguing mystery. Unfortunately its "made for TV" or Netlix, in this instance production quality undermines the film on multiple occasions - the bad CGI grass is a prime example, it looks really crap in places.

A tighter screenplay and a darker, more surreal tone would have helped greatly, also. Horror-Remake über eine College-Schwesternschaft, die kurz vor den Weihnachtsferien einen Serienmörder bekämpft.

Nur wer still bleibt überlebt.
